Movie Night

Daddy helped lead worship at the River of Life Men's retreat in Bald Knob, so it was just the 4 of us tonight. We went and picked up Arby's for dinner, ate, put on our pajamas, made a pallet then settled in to watch a movie. Chandler Grace didn't stay on the pallet long before asking to come up on the couch with me, which I kind of loved! We had intercession when Papa & Gigi came by to say hello. After they left we had hot fudge cake for desert and then resumed the movie. Actually, Kennedy resumed the movie, while Jackson and CG sat on the couch having me read books to them. It was a late night for the kids going to bed at 8:30-thankfully just before the storm hit. Daddy stayed at the retreat until the storm passed. Thankfully, we are all safe despite the bad weather.

Fairy Tale Character

Kennedy's class has been learning about Fairy Tales this week. Today they were to come to school dressed as their favorite Fairy Tale character. Kennedy chose Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. This was especially exciting for her since she begs to wear this dress to school every day.
She's definitely our beautiful princess!

Spring Fling

Kennedy & Mrs. Ashley

Kennedy & Gigi

Grandma & Kennedy

Mama & her little star

Waiting for Daddy & Kennedy to bring refreshments

The Curtis Kindergarten Spring Fling program was tonight at the Downtown Church Family Life Center.
Kennedy's class had a camping theme and sang and did sign language for their performance. The kids were so precious. I was so proud of my girl. I couldn't stop myself from being the only one in our section to give a standing ovation after the last song. I guess I'm that mom...
Gigi, Grandma and Gracie came to the program, too. It was a fun night and just something else to add to the list of many things that Kennedy does that brings us such joy.

Ice Cream Truck

Today the kids at Kennedy's school are getting a visit from the ice cream truck. Kennedy has been excited about this since yesterday when they sent the permission slip home. Ice cream truck = 1 happy girl!

The Super Fun Show

Today Kennedy's class took a field trip to see The Super Fun Show! at Harding University. They had a great time singing, dancing and listening to music. In Kennedy's words, The Super Fun Show! was a guy who's funny and teaches you how to be healthy and grow and he sings and plays music. Sounds energetic!
Mrs. Ashley said no one had a problem falling asleep at nap time!

Kennedy's 1st T-Ball Game

Kennedy had a great 1st game! She played short stop and stopped everything that was hit her way. She was their lead off hitter and was the only one on her team to hit off the pitching machine. We were so proud of her. She's a natural. The one very funny and precious thing was that no matter where Kennedy got the ball, she would return to her position before throwing it! That and the high knee raise/giant step forward as she threw the ball. Priceless. Gigi joined our family's small cheering section. It was a very windy and chilly night. The on and off again drizzle didn't help much. The kicker was that I borrowed a tele photo lens from my cousin, Alison, only to realize I hadn't charged up the battery for my camera. Grrr. Thankfully, another mother with the same lens took a picture of Kennedy batting and is going to email it to me. All in all, it was a great night!

Claire's birthday party

Claire invited Kennedy to her American Idol birthday party. It was so neat-everyone sang a song and then 2 judges gave positive feedback. Very cool! Kennedy loved dressing up and performing-2 of her favorite things! She took along her CD, and sang Battlefield by Jordin Sparks. The real stage and microphone was very impressive to Kennedy! Claire is one of Kennedy's best friends and we are so thankful for her.

Friday Night Plans

The 3 of you spent the night with Papa and Gigi tonight. Your night included pizza, banana splits and a movie. The 3 of you were so excited. So were Papa and Gigi. So were Mama and Daddy! We drove to Scott and went to Cotham's for dinner. Hubcap burgers, onion rings, fried green tomatoes (a first for me) and Mississippi Mud Pie-YUM! After dinner we went by UAMS for Jordan to pick up his trays from his morning case, and then we came home and watched Avatar. Great night for everyone!

George W. Bush

Former President George W. Bush came and spoke at Harding University Thursday night as part of the 2009-10 Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by the American Studies Institute.
Since my mother is an employee at HU, she got 2 tickets and invited me to go with her. I thoroughly enjoyed it. He was very interesting and entertaining. It was great to share this experience with my mom!

Earth Day

This post is especially for Kennedy! Our girl is all about the environment and has brought awareness to all of us because of the special place it has in her heart. Whether it's picking up trash outside, turning off lights and water-and reminding us to do the same, or making a compost heap, she certainly does her part.
Happy Earth Day!
