Snow, Snow & More Snow

Friday

Bowl of snow
afternoon movie

brownies
Dancing to Michael Jackson music

We got a lot of snow this weekend! A lot for Searcy, AR, anyway. Since Kennedy was sick and missed school Wednesday and Thursday, we didn't let you guys play out in the snow on Friday. The 3 of you played with your toys, read books, and watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (again) on a pallet in the toy room. Since you couldn't go outside, Daddy brought you each in a bowl of snow to eat. Then we made brownies and watched Michael Jackson's This is It for Friday Movie Night. The 3 of you LOVE his music and danced around the room to the songs.

Saturday

Raven & Kennedy
Hot Chocolate and chocolate chip cookies

Making up and telling jokes (priceless)

Saturday there was even more snow than Friday. The 3 of you spent the morning coloring pictures to hang in your room. Then, since Kennedy was fever free, you guys got to go out and play in the snow today.
Raven, our next door neighbor and Kennedy's class mate, came over to play, too. After playing out in the snow, we had hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies. What a great day. Tonight's agenda includes: pizza, wings and bubble baths for the 3 little monkeys. What a fun, snow-filled weekend!

Jackson's Preschool at Home

Jackson, you are like a little sponge absorbing information. You catch on quickly and love to learn, so I got you a preschool workbook from Wal Mart.
You started it today and were SO excited! You ran to sit at the desk Kennedy did her homeschool at and does her homework at now. Today were the colors RED, BLUE, and YELLOW. You had a lot of fun coloring, even though you already know those colors. You were trying very hard to stay inside the lines and did a good job at it as you colored more pages. I'm so proud of you being such a big boy!

1st Sick Day

Kennedy, you stayed home sick from school today. The fever, coughing and nasal congestion started last night. You didn't eat dinner last night and laid around until time for bed. That let us know immediately something was wrong with our usually very active girl! Then the pink cheeks showed up. Uh-oh. You even had to get up a few times during the night with drainage.
So, you've laid around in pajamas all day and read books in your bed. Hopefully you will be healthy again soon!

Kennedy learns to sew

Grandma picked you up on Saturday at 11 for a very special day. First, she took you to eat lunch at Subway, next she took you to Hancock's to pick out fabric and get your own thimble, and then she took you back to her house to sew a pillowcase. You stayed until time for Gracie's birthday party at 5. You've been wanting to learn to sew so that you can design your own fashions! You were beyond excited and did an EXCELLENT job! Grandma was very impressed with your straight lines.

Friday Night Movie

This year we've started the tradition of Friday Night Movie. The 3 of you love to pile into the mini-van, go into Hastings and choose a movie. We either watch it in the living room or the 3 of you will want to get your sleeping bags out, take a snack and watch it in your toy room-without parents! It's been a fun Friday night outing and event.

Story Time!

100 days of school

Today is the 100 days of school celebration. Kennedy took 100 old pennies that her Great Grandpa Dickson gave to her daddy that his daddy, your Great Great Grandpa Dickson gave to him. She counted them out herself and loved hearing about how old they are. They are having a party with snacks this morning to celebrate. She was so excited to go to school today.

Kennedy loses her 6th tooth!

I pulled Kennedy's 6th tooth tonight before dinner. It's been hanging by a thread for a few weeks now. Gigi even came over to see her new smile and her old tooth.
Kennedy was so excited to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy, but wanted me to leave her a note asking to leave the tooth along with the dollar so she could take the tooth to school tomorrow!
This was her top left tooth, so we will miss that precious baby smile, but are already enjoying her new toothless smile!

Haiti

Residents searching for food climb over the remains of a supermarket Monday in Port-au-Prince.

Kennedy came home from school today asking us if we'd heard about "Katy" (Haiti). All the pictures we've seen have shown the devastation from the earthquake. I explained (or tried to) what an earthquake was to Jackson and Chandler Grace. Then, I let them donate $10 by text to American Red Cross for Haiti. They were so excited because they got to help and it was precious to see their smiling faces.

* To donate- number 90999 and text HAITI

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

We've taught Kennedy all about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the importance of what he fought for. This morning as we were getting her ready for school, Jordan asked if she remembered what he said about not judging people by the color of their skin, and before he could finish she said, "but by the color of their heart"-well, I think she gets the point :)
Thank you, God, for the beautiful color of my baby girl and her heart.

Big Sunday

After church Sunday morning, we took the kids to Wal Mart to pick out presents for Carson and Johnny's birthday parties.

Jackson and Chandler Grace were invited to their first birthday party on Sunday. Johnny had his 3rd birthday party and it was a magic show. It was so cute and the kids loved it. Jackson was impressed with the Lightening McQueen cake. It is so special that Johnny's mama, Lindsey, was my best friend in high school and all of these years later we are still friends and our kids play together.

Kennedy went to Carson's roller skating birthday party on Sunday afternoon. Carson is a new friend Kennedy has made in her class at school. Jordan took her to the party, since Jackson & Chandler Grace had Johnny's party at the same time.
Jordan said Kennedy was skating all over the place and even did the limbo! One of the highlights for Kennedy? Having her picture taken with Luke. Luke is also in Kennedy's class and is her boyfriend, although he doesn't know it :)

After the parties, Nathan and Kacie invited us out for dinner. We enjoyed eating pizza, visiting and watching the kids play together. Our kids were very impressed with Matyson, Matalyn, Michael and Malachi's guinea pigs. And, Kennedy got to sew for the first time with the girls. Great, fun filled, day!
