First day of homeschool

Our home school materials arrived on Monday, the 21st. This was the Monday after returning from the cabin with a sick Kennedy. The two of us were so excited to open the box and look at the workbooks. So, I was unprepared for what Kennedy said next.
"Mom, if I were sick you wouldn't send me to school. So, I can't start home school yet" Wow! She doesn't miss a trick! My little evil genius :).
We didn't start that day due to her high fever, but we did start before she felt 100%. My thoughts were if she were well enough to play around in the house and watch TV, she could do some school work. Mean ol' Mrs. Mom!
A few things that cracked me up about Kennedy so far?
1. When matching words to pictures, I pointed to one and looking for the spelling word "bug", asked Kennedy what was it. Her answer? Praying Mantis. Which, by the way, was absolutely correct!
2. This happened again when I was pointing to what was "dog", and she answered with certainty, "Shitzu"-my parents have one, and to be fair, it did in fact, look like a Shitzu.
Funny, funny girl.
3. "Do I call you Mom or Mrs. Kim?"

Happy Adoption Day, Kennedy!

Ah, one of my favorite days of the year is here -Adoption Day! It was on this day, 5 years ago, that Kennedy's adoption was finalized. So, we celebrate this day every year with a party.
I really can't express in words the love we have for our daughter, the joy she brings daily to our lives, and the bond and connection we've always felt with her. How thankful we are that it was God's plan to bring us together the way that he did.
I'm thankful for a young woman who chose to give her life, and chose for her to have a home with a daddy and a mama, where she was wanted more than anything.
Happy Adoption Day, our precious Kennedy!

The Chosen One
by Wendy Silva

An empty space that needed a child to love in order to be fulfilled.
Then we saw you, and knew that
together a family we could build.

When you entered our home, laughter
replaced the silence and harmony filled the air.
It was hard to imagine all the prayers and
sleepless nights, but finally you were there.

We were meant to be together, no
matter what circumstances arose.
Because you, my precious one,
are the child that was chose.

The Cabin

Kyle & Katy brought everyone rock candy!

We had a wonderful weekend in Mountain View at the cabin with my parents, Kyle and Katy.
The hit of the weekend for my 3 children, by far, was the swinging bridge. We also enjoyed fishing, skipping rocks, playing video games, visiting, eating, the Razorback game (well, ...) and just being together.
We had a great time despite the on and off again rain, and it was a very relaxing weekend.

Happy Weekend

My parents, Kyle, Katy, and the 5 of us are going to a cabin in Mt. View for the weekend! Much needed break for everyone. Can't wait! Of course, I will post pics when we return. I'm posting this early, because I have 2 sick kids to get to a doctor, a brisket and buffalo chicken dip to make, and much to pack!
Have a blessed weekend!
